Chuck Weber

Executive Director of the Kansas Catholic Conference

Kansas Catholics,

A Message From Director Chuck Weber

Peace be with you my fellow Catholic from Kansas,

Imagine hosting a party for family and friends and the hour is late. One sure way to get your guests moving out the door is by starting a conversation about politics or religion—preferably both. Your home will be empty in minutes!

Welcome to the world of politics and religion in Kansas. More precisely, it is the intersection of our Catholic Faith and public policy. Very often it’s a messy place, but one where faithful Catholics can and should be active. I want to help you.

The Kansas Catholic Conference is the official voice of the Catholic Church on matters related to legislation. I answer directly to the four Catholic Bishops of Kansas. Our mission is “Promoting Justice in Public Policy.”

What does that mean?

As Catholics, we have an obligation to seek the common good. We look to Sacred Scripture, Catholic Tradition and a properly formed conscience as our guide. The Law, it has been said, is the Great Teacher of our Culture. The laws we pass—or don’t pass—impacts lives. Souls are at stake.

The priority public policy issues set forth by the Catholic Bishops of Kansas are:

Protecting Human Life
Religious Liberty
Marriage and the Family

These are the foundational issues from which all others flow.   We are also intensely interested in issues like educational choice, healthcare, immigration and others.

I am your Catholic voice for policy debates and discussions at the Statehouse in Topeka. To be effective, I need your help. Please sign up for our Legislative Alerts and educate yourself on the issues. This web site can help. Engage in the political process. Ask questions. Vote.

And pray. Pray for Kansas and our country. Prayer is probably the most important thing we can do.

If you have a question about policy or politics, please let me know and I will do my best to provide answers. Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.

God is with us!

Chuck Weber Executive Director Kansas Catholic Conference

What We Do

Founded in December of 1967 by Kansas’ Catholic bishops, the Kansas Catholic Conference serves as the official voice of the Catholic Church in Kansas on matters of public policy. The Conference operates at the intersection of faith and politics. By applying Catholic moral principles to the important political questions of the day, the Conference strives to ensure that citizens and elected officials evaluate public policy options in light of a moral framework that transcends party affiliation or partisan politics.
