Governor Parkinson has canceled all funding for the Stan Clark Pregnancy Maintenance Initiative, which helps low-income pregnant women facing difficult pregnancies. The Legislature funded the program at approximately $350,000, the entirety of which was eliminated by the Governor using the powers given to him by the Legislature to balance the budget.
This decision was particularly frustrating in light of the fact that Governor Parkinson just recently used his veto pen to restore taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.
