The Senate Ways and Means Committee and the House Appropriations Committee will meet this week to attempt to put together a budget at a time when the state is facing a record funding shortfall. While various solutions are being considered, the Kansas Catholic Conference continues to urge legislators to give special priority and protection to those programs that serve the most vulnerable, in particular the poor and the disabled. The full Legislature does not return until April 28.
