New abortion data released today by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is breathtaking, heartbreaking and infuriating.
Abortions in Kansas are up a staggering 58% from 2022, including a 13% increase from Kansas residents and a 78% increase from out of state girls and women. Kansas is indeed the epicenter of the Midwest for abortion.
Buried deep in the report is the stunning fact that 36 girls under the age of 15 had an abortion last year. Is the abortion industry reporting these pregnancies to law enforcement as sexual assaults, incest or unlawful activity?
This report is also devastating because it shows how vulnerable women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy are being exploited by the abortion industry in ever greater numbers. There is nothing “caring” about abortion. Behind this cold, hard data there are real people being manipulated for monetary profit. Women in unplanned pregnancies deserve to be treated with compassion, love and care. Their children are great treasures being destroyed in the name of the almighty dollar. God’s children should not be for sale.
The protection of human life from conception to natural death will remain the #1 public policy for the Kansas Catholic Conference. We will continue to support ministries and policies to help protect unborn children and their mothers from the insidious abortion industry. We will also continue our support for after-abortion care through organizations like Project Rachel.
